Open a bank account (銀行口座)
For you if: you need a bank account in Japan, for example for your salary.
- Open an account at a bank branch. Some banks also accept an app, a PC, or mail.
- Bring: your residence card, a seal (はんこ), and your work or student ID.
- The bank usually sends your cash card to your home later.

- Choose a bank. Ask the bank what you need.
- Go to the branch with your papers.
- Wait for your cash card by mail.

If Japanese is hard for you. Ask someone at your work or school to help you.
Tell your bank about changes. Contact your bank when your address, period of stay, status of residence, or workplace changes. If you do not, your account may stop working.
Never sell or give your account to others. Selling or giving your account, cash card, bankbook, or login is a crime.
Sending money abroad. Use only licensed banks and services. If you are not sure, ask someone at your work or school.
When you leave Japan. Close your account at a branch.
At the end, check at the counter. You can show this card.
