Put out garbage (ごみの出し方)
For you if: you live in Japan.
- Sort your garbage by your city's rules.
- Put it out at the right place, on the right day, usually in the morning.
- Wrong garbage, or garbage in the wrong place, is not collected.

- Get your city's garbage rules. Ask the city office or your landlord.This can be different in each city.
- Sort your garbage.
- Put it out on the morning of the collection day.
More details
Common types (your city’s rules may differ).
- Burnable (可燃ごみ): kitchen waste, paper
- Non-burnable (不燃ごみ): broken dishes, glass, metal
- Recyclable (資源ごみ): bottles, cans, plastic bottles, newspapers, plastic containers
- Oversized (粗大ごみ): furniture, bicycles, mattresses. There may be a fee.
- Home appliances: air conditioners, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines. There may be a fee.
Special bags. In some cities, you must buy the city’s garbage bags.
At the end, check at the counter. You can show this card.
